Welcome to the Sesquicentennial year!
On July 1, 2017 Canada turns 150, and to mark this significant occasion the University of Toronto will be hosting a wide range of initiatives and events throughout the year. These range from student-led activities, academic conferences, and more. U of T wants to give back to the broader community by bringing the University’s critical perspective on Canada’s history, present, and future to the national celebrations.
Founded in 1827, U of T predates Canada, and the University and the country grew up together. The Sesquicentennial provides an opportunity to reflect on how the we got to where we are today and to look forward to where we are going. U of T’s faculty includes experts in Canadian history, politics, art, literature, law, society, policy, and more. The University’s students are the best and the brightest of their generation and will help to create the Canada of the 21st century.
